Awantipora : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has marked a significant achievement by securing its first-ever placement in three categories of the NIRF 2025 rankings, released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
This year, a record 7,692 institutions submitted 14,163 applications, making IUST’s inclusion particularly noteworthy. In the rankings, IUST has attained a position within the 151-200 rank band in both the overall University and Engineering categories, indicating its increasing visibility and reputation in higher education and research. Additionally, the university has been recognized in the 51-100 rank band under the State Public Universities category, highlighting its status as a leading public university in India. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo expressed pride in this accomplishment, emphasizing that it reflects the hard work and dedication of the university’s faculty, students, and staff. He noted that this recognition aligns with IUST’s mission of fostering knowledge creation, innovation, and inclusive development in the region. Prof. Romshoo also stated that the NIRF 2025 ranking will motivate the university to strive for greater academic and research excellence, with a focus on quality teaching, impactful research, and industry collaboration. The inclusion of IUST in the NIRF 2025 rankings is viewed as a landmark achievement for both the university and the higher education sector in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the region’s growing contribution to India’s knowledge economy.
