Says “Op Sindoor’s Impact on J&K LoC Still Unfolding, Multi-Agency Synergy Crucial”
New Delhi: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday highlighted ongoing infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, indicating that it is premature to evaluate the full impact of ‘Operation Sindoor.’
Speaking at the launch of Retired Lt Gen KJS Dhillon’s book on the operation, he emphasized the need for a long-term perspective on its effects on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and the overall situation at the LoC. Despite the operation targeting terror infrastructure, General Dwivedi noted that infiltration attempts continue, suggesting that state-sponsored terrorism has not ceased. He also addressed the concept of theaterisation, advocating for its implementation to enhance command and coordination among various military agencies. General Dwivedi asserted that effective execution of operations requires a unified command structure, as modern warfare involves multiple entities beyond the Army alone. Describing ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a testament to the Indian Army’s professionalism and dedication, he remarked on the importance of recognizing the ongoing challenges and sacrifices associated with conflicts along the LoC. Furthermore, he welcomed the government’s GST reform, which he believes will facilitate greater investment in defense corridors and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups, ultimately enhancing research, development, and manufacturing capabilities for the Indian Army.
