Institute shows steady growth; hails faculty, staff, students for their contribution: Dir

Srinagar : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has achieved a notable improvement in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, advancing six positions to rank 73rd in the Engineering category, up from 79th the previous year.
The Institute has maintained its standing within the 101–150 band in the Overall category, indicating consistent progress across various performance metrics. The data for the 2024-25 NIRF cycle was compiled under the guidance of former NIRF Chairman, Prof. Najeeb Ud Din, and former Nodal Officer, Dr. Harveer Singh Pali. Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia emphasized that this achievement reflects the growing reputation of NIT Srinagar and serves as a milestone rather than a final destination. He acknowledged the collective efforts of students, researchers, and staff in contributing to the Institute’s vision and success. Prof. Kanaujia also noted the importance of sustaining and enhancing this ranking, highlighting the need for renewed focus from the new NIRF Chairman and Coordinator to continue advancing in research, academics, and national visibility. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman regarded the improvement as a proud milestone and commended the dedication of all departments. Chairman of NIRF, Prof. Babar Ahmad, attributed the success to the collaborative efforts of both teaching and non-teaching staff, while NIRF Coordinator Dr. Vijay Kumar recognized the teamwork involved in preparing the submissions. The NIRF 2025 rankings, announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, mark the 10th edition of this annual evaluation, which assesses higher education institutions based on parameters like Teaching, Learning, and Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception.
