Ganderbal : Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir has officially taken on the role of Registrar at the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir). His appointment was welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath, who expressed optimism about the potential for reform and academic excellence under Dr. Mir’s leadership. The university aims to enhance its reputation as a center for learning and innovation.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Mir emphasized the importance of sincerity, professional ethics, and dedication in transforming CUKashmir into a distinguished institution. He called upon all members of the university community to contribute to this vision of growth and excellence, aspiring to elevate CUKashmir to national and international prominence. Dr. Mir is a seasoned academic with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and leadership. He holds an MPhil and Ph.D. in Sociology and has published 35 research papers and edited four books. His career includes significant roles such as Director of the Convocation Complex at the University of Kashmir and various positions at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and the University Grants Commission (UGC). His contributions at the UGC included involvement in key academic initiatives and the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir students. Most recently, Dr. Mir served as Registrar at the National Institute of Technology Srinagar and the University of Kashmir. He remains active on national committees, including the UGC Joint Cadre Recruitment Rules Committee responsible for developing recruitment regulations for central universities in India.
