Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested five drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg, at a checkpoint established at Drung crossing, intercepted suspects identified as Altaf Ahmad Hajam S/o Mohd Abdullah Hajam, Suhail Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Maqbool Lone and Mudasir Ahmad Lone S/o Gh Nabi Lone, all residents of Waniloo Hajibal. Stating that 20 grams of brown sugar like contraband substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused following which they were arrested Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 67/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tangmarg besides initiating further investigations.
Police in its statement further said while acting on specific inputs, a police party from Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Sesman Damjan intercepted two suspects and identified them as Nisar Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Rehman Dar R/o Sesman Bonigam, and Anayat Bashir S/o Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/o Nassu Badragund. Stating that during search, 3.289 kg of poppy straw like contraband was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were subsequently arrested Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 175/2025 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against criminals as per law.
