R&R Com (M) assesses damages, restoration works in Jammu Migrant Camps

Jammu : Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) J&K Dr Arvind Karwani assessed the damages caused by the recent spell of torrential rains during an extensive tour of all migrant camps of Jammu.
During the visit, Dr Karwani observed that several areas were inundated and infrastructure damaged. The power and drinking water supply network was also badly affected, further compounding public inconvenience.
At each location, Dr Karwani interacted with camp inmates and listened patiently to their grievances. He assured them of prompt action. Appealing for cooperation, Dr Karwani assured the camp inmates that the administration is making every possible effort to restore normalcy. Dr Karwani emphasized that a committee of officers has also been constituted in respect of each migrant camp to make an extensive survey of damages and urgent development requirements in the camps and a coordinated effort is being made by the Relief Organisation with all line departments to speed up the restoration process.
Dr. Karwani was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Kailash Devi, Camp Commandants and senior officers from Jal Shakti, PDD, PWD (R&B), Police & Tehsil administration during visit to Mini-Township Jagti, TRT Nagrota, TRT Purkhoo and TRT Muthi-Butanagar. He instructed officials to immediately initiate restoration works with an explicit focus on sustainable solutions to ensure stability and long-term resilience.
The PWD (R&B) was instructed to expedite the waterproofing work of roofs and urgent repair and renovation works. The site engineers were directed to ensure close supervision on the ground to ensure the quality of work being executed and completion within the stipulated deadline. PDD was instructed to restore power supply, while Jal Shakti Department was asked to take immediate steps to restore the regular drinking water supply to prevent inconvenience to residents. He also took stock of the availability of rations.
