Srinagar : Police in Pulwama on Saturday inaugurated the U-17 Knockout Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme 2025-26 at the Sports Stadium Tumlahal, Lassipora Litter. The tournament is being conducted in a knockout format, with 16 teams from various areas of the Litter-belt participating. The opening match witnessed an exciting contest between Winning Wizards Wahipora and Royal Challengers Patipora, setting the tone for the rest of the tournament.
According to a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar the Chief Guest, SSP Pulwama Ms. PD Nitya along with other senior police officers and respectable members of the civil society, graced the occasion. They interacted with the budding players and encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and channel their energy into constructive and positive pursuits.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Pulwama emphasised the importance of sports in shaping character, fostering unity, and keeping the youth engaged in healthy activities. She reiterated the commitment of Pulwama Police to continue such initiatives for the welfare and development of the community.
The players, spectators, civil society members, and local residents expressed gratitude to Police for organising the tournament and providing a vibrant platform for nurturing young sporting talent.
