Tianjin(China) |Sept,1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasized India’s firm position against terrorism during the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tianjin, China.

Addressing the top council meet of SCO member states Prime Minister slammed several countries for their overt support of terrorism and called for a unified global response, stating that double standards regarding terrorism are unacceptable. Modi highlighted the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, as a significant challenge to humanity and urged SCO members to unite against such threats.

He reiterated India’s long-standing struggle with terrorism over the past four decades and expressed gratitude to nations that have supported India during times of grief. Modi advocated for zero tolerance towards cross-border terrorism and outlined the SCO’s foundational pillars: security, connectivity, and opportunity. He underscored that terrorism poses a common threat to all nations and societies, necessitating collective action.

Modi also mentioned India’s proactive measures against terrorism, including leading initiatives against Al Qaeda and addressing terror financing. He noted that India has conducted precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in response to aggression, particularly following the Pahalgam attack. The SCO, which includes ten member states, has seen India actively participate since its membership began in 2017, contributing significantly to various initiatives and holding leadership roles within the organization.
