Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. LG Sinha Felicitates Buddha Peace & Ambedkar Awardees: Srinagar|Aug, 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday this week felicitated recipients of the International Buddha Peace Awards and Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Awards in Srinagar, saying their contributions are an inspiration for society.
2. LG Chairs High-Level Meeting On Flood Rescue & Relief Ops
Jammu|Aug, 27: LG Manoj Sinha chaired a meeting at Raj Bhavan to review rescue and relief operations in flood-hit districts. He directed immediate restoration of essential services and asked Army, NDRF and CAPFs to remain on maximum readiness.
3. LG Visits Injured Pilgrims At Katra Hospital
Katra| Aug, 27: LG Manoj Sinha visited SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra, to enquire about the health of devotees injured in the Vaishno Devi landslide. He urged doctors to provide best treatment and thanked emergency responders for saving lives.
4. LG Briefs PM, HM On J&K Flood Situation
Jammu|Aug, 27: The Lieutenant Governor briefed PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah on the flood situation in J&K. He said relief work is underway and directed officials to maintain maximum staff presence for emergency response.
5. LG Addresses Convocation At Ambedkar Bihar University
Muzaffarpur|Aug, 26: LG Manoj Sinha addressed the convocation of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, urging students to uphold values of knowledge, inclusivity, and service to society.
6. CM Reviews Highway Restoration, Calls For Coordination
Srinagar|Aug, 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a meeting to review damages to NH-44 and other major roads. He directed swift restoration, smooth traffic, and uninterrupted supply of essentials to the Valley and remote areas.
7. CM Chairs Review Meeting on Eid-ul-Milad Arrangements
Srinagar: CM Omar Abdullah chaired a meeting at Dargah Hazratbal to review Eid-ul-Milad (SAW) arrangements, directing uninterrupted power, water, sanitation, traffic regulation, and medical facilities for devotees.
8. CM Offers Obeisance At Hazratbal, Reviews Facilities For Devotees
Srinagar|Aug, 27: The Chief Minister visited Dargah Hazratbal, offered prayers, and inspected arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Milad. He directed officials to ensure adequate facilities for devotees.
9. CM Announces Ex-Gratia For Victims Of Landslide, Floods
Jammu|Aug, 28: CM Omar Abdullah announced ₹6 lakh ex-gratia for next of kin of those who died in Vaishno Devi landslide and flood-related incidents. Severely injured will receive ₹1 lakh and those with minor injuries ₹50,000.
10. CM Inspects Damaged Tawi Bridge In Jammu
Jammu|Aug, 28: The Chief Minister visited the 4th Tawi Bridge at Bhagwati Nagar to assess extensive damage caused by floods. He assured of prompt restoration measures.
11. CM Visits Flood-Hit Areas, Assures Safety Measures
Jammu|Aug, 27: CM Omar Abdullah visited flood-affected localities of Jammu, reviewed ground situation, and assured people that necessary measures will be taken to safeguard vulnerable areas.
12. CM Reviews Flood Preparedness Amid Incessant Rains
Jammu|Aug, 26: The Chief Minister chaired a meeting to review flood mitigation measures, directing officers to remain on high alert and take all precautionary steps.
13. CM Meets Maharashtra Delegation On Forest Rights & Conservation
Jammu|Aug, 25: A Maharashtra delegation working on community forest rights met CM Omar Abdullah to discuss forest rights, wetlands, and conservation initiatives.
