KU, IISER Pune ink landmark MoU to boost collaborative research under ANRF-PAIR Prog

Srinagar : The University of Kashmir (KU) and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune on Thursday formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the ANRF-PAIR program.
The agreement aims to enhance research collaboration, foster innovation, and facilitate joint projects, resource sharing, and capacity building between the institutions. The MoU was established during a high-level meeting attended by key leaders from both IISER Pune and IISER Tirupati, alongside senior officials from KU. The discussions included the potential for a broader MoU that would encompass all three institutions, focusing on various scientific disciplines such as chemical, physical, biological, earth, and environmental sciences, as well as climate studies, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized that this collaboration marks a significant advancement in building partnerships with leading institutes like the IISERs, which will enhance scientific capacity and innovation to address both regional and global challenges.
Prof. Sunil Baghwat from IISER Pune noted that the diverse research programs available at the IISERs would create new opportunities for faculty, researchers, and students. Additionally, Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya highlighted the importance of joint initiatives in specific research areas, such as high-altitude physics and biodiversity studies. The discussions also pointed to the potential for faculty and student exchange programs, joint workshops, and conferences, as well as shared access to advanced research infrastructure. This collaboration aligns with national priorities, including the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) and the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), reinforcing the commitment to advancing education and research in India.
