Srinagar: Two tragic incidents struck south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, leaving behind grief and devastation for families.
The first incident involved the deaths of two young men, Irshad Ahmad Bhat (30) and Junaid Shafi Bhat (25), who were killed when a low-tension electric wire fell on them while they were loading their truck in the Ganjiwara area. Eyewitnesses said that the wire snapped unexpectedly, leading to their immediate fatalities. In a separate incident, severe weather conditions led to the death of at least 75 sheep in the Shankerpora area of Dooru, devastating the shepherd family reliant on these animals for their livelihood. Following the incidents, senior officials from various departments visited the affected areas and assured the family that their situation would be addressed with higher authorities. The family has urgently appealed for government compensation and relief, highlighting the financial crisis they now face. Officials are currently preparing a detailed report on the losses for further action.
