ACB arrests Sgct for accepting bribe of Rs 10000

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday said to have trapped and arrested Sgct Arif Iqbal, presently posted in Police Post Lam (Nowshera), Rajouri for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10000.
“Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint alleging therein that the complainant was called in Police Post Lam telephonically by Sgct Arif Iqbal on the basis of a complaint lodged by a person of Pukharni, Tehsil Qila Darhal District Rajouri. The said Sgct demanded Rs 10000 as bribe for himself and Incharge Police Post Lam for not implicating him in that case/complaint,” a spokesman said in a statement issued here on Monday.
The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, approached ACB to take legal action. After discreet verification, a case under FIR number 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri, and investigation was initiated, the statement reads.
“During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and accused public servant Sgct Arif Iqbal of Police Post Lam, Nowshera, District Rajouri was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The accused was arrested on the spot by the ACB team after following due process of law. Moreover, search was also conducted in the residential house of the accused public servant,” the spokesman said, adding that further investigation of the instant case is going on
