34th Taekwondo Meet begins at PM Shri School JNV Udhampur

Udhampur : The 34th Taekwondo meet commenced with great zeal and enthusiasm at PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Udhampur.
The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Commandant STC BSF Hemant Kochar as the chief guest, while International Para Athlete Chandeep Singh was the guest of Honour.
Among others present were Assistant Commissioner, NVS Chandigarh Sant Singh; Principal, PM Shri School JNV Chandigarh A. S. Bhullar; Principal, PM Shri School JNV Doda Kheem Chand; Principal, PM Shri School JNV Kapurthala Gurpreet Kaur; Principal PM Shri School JNV Reasi Sunil Kumar ; Principal, PM Shri School JNV Samba D.S. Saklani.
The day began with a solemn flag hoisting Ceremony, followed by a spectacular march past and the release of coloured balloons by the chief guest in the Assembly Ground, symbolizing peace and sportsmanship.
Subsequent programmes unfolded in the Multipurpose Hall, beginning with the lighting of the traditional Lamp. The audience was enthralled by vibrant cultural performances including Ganesh Vandana, a soulful invocation dance and a lively Punjabi Giddha–Dogri Dance Mashup.
The chief guest formally declared the 34th Taekwondo Meet open, marking the start of an exciting sporting journey. Chandeep Singh delivered an inspiring speech, motivating young players to pursue their dreams with resilience and dedication.
The Taekwondo matches began thereafter on Mat 1 and Mat 2, with the pre-lunch session dedicated to boys’ events and the post-lunch session reserved for girls’ competitions. The atmosphere remained charged with energy, sportsmanship, and discipline throughout the day.
The matches continued with great enthusiasm, and the first day of the meet concluded late at night with resounding applause for the participants and organizers.
The 34th Taekwondo Meet at PM Shri School JNV Udhampur is not just a celebration of sports but also a platform to instill values of teamwork, determination, and excellence among young Navodayans.
