Srinagar | : Police on Saturday said that it has booked a habitual drug offender under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS).
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that one Mehraj-ud-din Mir @Dina R/o Chijhama had a history of involvement in multiple narcotics-related cases and despite repeated arrests and preventive actions, he continued his illegal activities, posing a persistent threat to society.
Stating that it was after compiling a detailed dossier and obtaining approval from the competent authority, a detention order was executed, and the offender was subsequently booked under PIT NDPS Act.
Stating that the said accused has been lodged in Central Jail Jammu Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reierated its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and asked all repeat offenders to desist from such activities, appealing therein people to remain vigilant and support efforts to ensure a drug-free Sopore.
