New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday slammed Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s recent comments comparing the economic conditions of India and Pakistan, interpreting them as an admission of failure and indicative of a “robber mentality” in Pakistan.
Speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders’ forum 2025, Singh highlighted Munir’s analogy of India as a luxury car and Pakistan as a dump truck, suggesting it reflects Pakistan’s struggles and failures since its inception. Singh emphasized the importance of maintaining India’s defense capabilities alongside its economic and cultural prosperity, asserting that the spirit to defend the nation must remain strong. He interpreted Munir’s remarks as a serious warning, asserting that India is prepared to respond appropriately to any threats. Singh noted that Munir’s statement has drawn significant criticism and ridicule, both domestically and internationally, as it raises questions about why, despite gaining independence simultaneously, Pakistan has not achieved similar economic success as India. Additionally, Singh referenced previous statements from the Ministry of External Affairs, which condemned Pakistan’s nuclear threats and warned of severe consequences for any aggressive actions, reiterating India’s commitment to national security in the face of ongoing provocations from Pakistan’s leadership.
