Srinagar: A conference on Anti Human Trafficking was held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, organized by the Crime Branch Headquarters J&K in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The primary objective was to raise awareness among students and the public about the dangers and social impacts of human trafficking.
Addressing the participants at the event the Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M Gillani, emphasized the need for collective action to combat human trafficking, highlighting its threat to individual victims and the broader societal fabric. He called for a shift in focus towards human security and the protection of vulnerable communities from exploitation. Alok Kumar, ADG Fire & Emergency Services, underscored the importance of community involvement and the role of social media in spreading awareness. He also stressed the necessity of thorough investigations to ensure justice for victims. IGP (Crime) Sh. Sujit Kumar welcomed attendees and noted the ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Home Affairs to combat human trafficking, aiming to unite various stakeholders, including legal professionals and social organizations, in this critical fight. Experts Rajesh Mani and Ravi Kant contributed valuable insights through lectures and presentations, sharing strategies to combat human trafficking and support victims. The conference served as a platform for stakeholders to exchange experiences and identify effective prevention methods. The event concluded with the presentation of mementoes to the Chief Guest and speakers, followed by a vote of thanks from Mohammad Fiesel Qureshi, SSP, SO to IGP Crime, acknowledging the contributions of all guests and participants.
