Lok Sabha Takes Up Delhi Services Bill, Amit Shah Attacks AAP Government Over “Corruption”

New Delhi| Aug,21 : The Rajya Sabha has agreed to send three significant bills to a Joint Committee, which will consist of 21 Lok Sabha members and 10 Rajya Sabha members. This committee is tasked with submitting a report by the end of the first week of the winter session of Parliament. The bills include the Constitution (One Hundred & Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and The Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah proposed the motion to refer these bills to the committee amidst considerable opposition, which included loud protests and sloganeering. The motion was passed via a voice vote. The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill aims to allow the removal of a Central or State Minister facing serious allegations and detained for over 30 days. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill seeks to amend existing legislation to establish a legal basis for the removal of a Chief Minister or Minister under similar circumstances. Opposition leaders have criticized these proposed amendments, labeling them as “draconian” and “unconstitutional.” Tensions escalated in the Lok Sabha, where opposition MPs expressed their dissent by tearing and throwing copies of the bills towards Amit Shah. The proposed changes have raised significant concerns regarding their implications for political accountability and governance.
