Ganderbal |: The Department of Communication and Journalism at the Central University of Kashmir celebrated World Photography Day at the Tulmulla campus.
Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, emphasized the significance of photography as a powerful tool for expression and professional growth, highlighting its role in storytelling and emotional connection. He called upon the participants to respect individual privacy and the responsibility that comes with capturing images. Filmmaker Gaurav Kumar delivered a presentation titled “Film Your Film,” discussing the essential elements of filmmaking, including framing, lighting, and sound. He stressed the importance of narrative in engaging audiences and encouraged students to develop both photography and filmmaking skills as vital components of modern media. Dr. Arif Nazir, Head of the Department, reiterated the increasing relevance of visual media in society and the university’s commitment to fostering creativity and professional excellence among students. The event also featured a photography contest, “My Favorite Photo,” where Danish Mohiuddin and Iqbal Feroz won first and second prizes, respectively, while the third prize was shared among three participants.
