Srinagar |: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a Police team of Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Melhura near Laktipora, intercepted a suspect identified as Zubair Manzoor Bhat S/o Manzoor Ahmad Bhat R/o Arwani Bijbehara and during search recovered approximately 290 grams of charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 57/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Zainapora besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 , urging therein the general public to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and warning tough actions against the criminals as per law.
