Jammu | Aug, 18: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta on Monday placed under suspension a police constable, SgCt. Mohd Zia on allegations of misconduct involving the assault of a Village Defence Group (VDG) member. The suspension is effective immediately, and Zia has been reassigned to the District Police Lines (DPL) while a departmental inquiry is conducted.
Reports said that the inquiry will be led by a senior officer tasked with investigating the incident thoroughly, with a report expected within two weeks. Additionally, the conduct of the then Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Thathri, DySP (P) Afeer Jaleel, will also be scrutinized as part of the inquiry to determine his involvement and any necessary actions. The District Police said that the situation is under active review, and any individuals found guilty of misconduct will face strict legal consequences.
