Jammu|: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu commemorated the 79th anniversary of India’s Independence with a vibrant celebration at its Jagti Campus.

The event commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and the unfurling of the Indian Tricolour by Prof. B.S. Sahay, the Director of IIM Jammu, who addressed the community with a message of unity and national pride. He paid tribute to the victims of a recent tragedy in Kishtwar and reflected on India’s transformative journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting significant milestones such as Operation Sindoor and the construction of the Chenab Rail Bridge, which are set to enhance connectivity and trade in Jammu & Kashmir.

Prof. Sahay celebrated India’s achievements in sports, notably the accomplishments of Grandmasters Gukesh Dommaraju and Divya Deshmukh, and recognized the inspirational journey of astronaut Sudhanshu Sharma. He emphasized India’s economic growth, projecting it to become the third-largest economy by 2027, and noted advancements in infrastructure, education, and technology, including innovations like UPI and Direct Benefit Transfers. He also announced IIM Jammu’s upcoming 10th anniversary and its recent international accreditations, positioning the institute among the top five IIMs in India. The celebration included community outreach, welcoming 30 students and three teachers from Hee Maa Public School, aimed at inspiring aspirations for higher education. The event concluded with the release of tricolour balloons and a collective rendition of the National Anthem, reinforcing the commitment of the IIM Jammu community to uphold the ideals of freedom and national service. The event was coordinated by the Office of Student Affairs and the Student Council, showcasing the institute’s dedication to fostering a spirit of unity and progress in the nation.
