On 79th I-Day eve, Murmu Says ‘Op Sindoor’ A Significant Landmark In Global Fight Against Terrorism

“India on path of becoming developed economy by 2047, August 15 etched in our collective memory; Our daughters our pride”

New Delhi, Srinagar: President Droupadi Murmu condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack as a cowardly act and emphasized India’s strong response, highlighting Operation Sindoor as a decisive military action against terrorism. She noted that this operation showcased India’s unity and resolve, sending a clear message that terrorism would not be tolerated. The President linked this success to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which has bolstered India’s self-sufficiency in defense capabilities. In her address on the eve of Independence Day, President Murmu underscored the importance of national unity in the face of terrorism and highlighted India’s commitment to defending its citizens while maintaining a stance of non-aggression. She celebrated the progress made since independence, emphasizing the country’s journey towards becoming a developed economy by 2047, with a focus on good governance and anti-corruption measures. The President acknowledged the historical significance of August 15, reflecting on the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and the transition to democracy. She reiterated the values enshrined in the Constitution—justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity—as foundational to India’s democratic ethos. Murmu also paid tribute to the victims of Partition, recognizing the pain inflicted by historical events. On economic progress, she reported a GDP growth rate of 6.5%, positioning India as the fastest-growing major economy despite global challenges. The government’s welfare initiatives have successfully reduced poverty and income inequality, while infrastructure development has been prioritized, including advancements in rail and urban transport. In healthcare, the Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided coverage to over 55 crore people, ensuring equitable access to medical services. The digital economy has flourished, with India leading in digital transactions and connectivity, supported by the government’s initiatives in artificial intelligence and technology. President Murmu emphasized the importance of self-reliance and the role of youth, women, and marginalized communities in driving India’s development. She highlighted the transformative potential of the National Education Policy and the growing opportunities for entrepreneurship. The achievements of women in various fields, including sports and defense, were celebrated, marking a significant shift towards gender equality. Overall, the President’s address encapsulated a vision of a united, self-reliant, and progressive India, committed to leveraging its cultural heritage and technological advancements for the betterment of all citizens.
