Srinagar: Two officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) on the occasion of Independence Day 2025, recognising their exceptional leadership, dedication and service in one of India’s most challenging security environments.
According to the official list released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA the awardees from Jammu and Kashmir Police are Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Rashmi Wazir, Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
The list says, nationwide, a total of 89 PSMs were conferred in the Police Service category this year, alongside 226 Gallantry Medals (GM) and 635 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Meanwhile, the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for a long record of exceptional service in the police force, going beyond the call of duty, and setting an example for others in the organization
