Srinagar : Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. CM attends SKUAST-Jammu Convocation: Chief Minister attended the 9th Convocation of SKUAST-Jammu, lauding the role of agricultural scientists, faculty, and students in driving innovation. He called for farmer-centric research to make Jammu & Kashmir self-reliant. Notably, girl students excelled by securing 252 out of 446 degrees, 7 of 8 gold medals, and 32 of 35 merit certificates, marking a shining example of women’s success in agri-education and research.
2. LG Sinha On Education: LG Manoj Sinha said he firmly believes the right balance of science and sanskar will equip students to face future challenges. He stressed that to harness India’s growing economic power, school education must foster scientific temper and curiosity among students.
3. LG Honours Meritorious Students: LG Sinha addressed the Medhavi Chhatra Samman Samaroh organized by Amar Ujala Group at the Convention Centre Jammu, congratulating the awardees. He expressed happiness over the soaring spirit of the youth and their resolve for nation-building, stating that their adventurous pursuit will ensure a bright future for the nation and humanity.
4. CM Lays Foundation For Agri-Entrepreneurship Centre: The Chief Minister, along with Agriculture Production Minister Javed Dar, Minister Satish Sharma, Advisor to the CM Nasir Sogami, and MLA Arvind Gupta, laid the foundation stone for the Centre for Excellence for Entrepreneurship in Precision Vegetables & Floriculture Farming at Talab Tillo, Jammu. The initiative aims to boost farmers’ incomes, promote modern agri-tech, and ensure year-round seedling availability.
5. LG Hands Over Appointment Letters to NoKs Of Terror Victims: LG Manoj Sinha handed over appointment letters to 158 next of kin of civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir. He said wounds persisting for decades are now being healed, and the event provided a sense of closure to families who silently endured trauma for years.
6. CM Inspects Tawi River Front Project: The Chief Minister inspected ongoing development works of the Tawi River Front Project in Jammu, stating that it will redefine the city’s urban landscape, enhance tourism, generate jobs, and provide clean, green public spaces, while ensuring sustainable development and flood resilience.
7. LG Inaugurates National Tribal Festival At Gurez: LG Manoj Sinha inaugurated the National Tribal Festival at Gurez, celebrating the culture and traditions of the Dard-Shina community. A community radio station was also launched to inspire the younger generation to preserve the community’s heritage and knowledge.
8. CM Visits Gurez: The Chief Minister arrived in Gurez to participate in the National Tribal Festival 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to preserving tribal heritage and promoting development in remote areas. He held a public interaction at Dawar, Gurez, listening to residents’ concerns and assuring their redressal.
9. CM At National Tribal Festival In Gurez: On the second day of the festival, the Chief Minister said tribal communities are the living soul of India’s cultural diversity and that such festivals strengthen unity and respect across regions.
