Over 150 Kgs of Rotten Meat Seized in G’bal, Kangan During Food Safety Drive

G’bal : In a continuation of the intensified food safety drive that recently covered Srinagar, authorities have seized and destroyed more than 150 kilograms of rotten and unhygienic meat products in Ganderbal and Kangan during a series of surprise inspections.

In Kangan, inspection teams recovered nearly 70 kilograms of spoiled chicken, kebabs, rista, and fish from various food outlets. Officials reported that the seized items were being stored in highly unsanitary conditions and were declared unfit for human consumption.

In Ganderbal town, food safety squads confiscated around 80 kilograms of rotten mutton, kebabs, and rista from several local eateries as part of a coordinated enforcement effort.

A senior official from the Food Safety Department told that all food business operators in the district have been issued strict warnings. He added that surprise inspections will continue in the coming days, and violators will be booked under relevant sections of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSAI).

“The health and safety of the public remain our top priority. Any negligence in food quality or hygiene will be dealt with sternly under the law,” the official stated.
