Srinagar | : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team at a checkpoint in Awantipora intercepted a Toyota Etios vehicle driven by one Akib Ahmad Wani from Zafron Colony, Srinagar following which 8 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered during searches from Wani’s possession. Stating that the accused was arrested besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR Number 169/2025 was registered at the Police Station Awantipora besides which an investigation initiated into the matter is underway. Police in its statement also reiterated its commitment to combat drug-related issues in the community.
