Ramban |:  As part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga campaign commemorating India’s 79th Independence Day, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan Thursday led a series of patriotic and public outreach activities in Sub-Division Gool combining the spirit of nationalism with citizen-focused governance.

Accompanied by CPO Dr Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, ACP Mohammad Ashfaq, SDM Gool Imtiaz Ahmed, and other senior officers, the DC visited venues where students showcased their creativity through patriotic paintings, crafts, and stalls. Students actively participated in Rangoli making using organic materials, painting exhibitions, and Rakhi-making activities, expressing their patriotic zeal.

A key highlight was the Tiranga Rakhi celebration at GHSS Gool, where students tied tricolour rakhis to the Deputy Commissioner, dignitaries and security personnel under the theme “Tiranga Rakhi Har Veer Ki Kalai Par”. Students and officials also took a pledge to hoist the National Flag atop their homes, reinforcing the Har Ghar Tiranga message.

The DC also took part in a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, organised by the Forest Department Gool to promote environmental consciousness. Students with outstanding performances were felicitated.

District-wide, the campaign saw enthusiastic participation through rallies, painting competitions, cultural programmes, and awareness drives on Swachhata, water conservation, plantation, and hygiene, turning Ramban into a vibrant centre of patriotic energy.

Continuing the public outreach initiative, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a Public Grievance Redressal Camp in Gool to address local concerns at the grassroots level. The event was attended by DDC Chairperson Dr Shamshad Shan, district officers, and members of the public. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of Late  Rajinder Singh Rana (JKAS) and his son, who recently passed away in a tragic accident.

During the interaction, the DC assured that all grievances would be addressed in a timely manner through coordinated efforts. He encouraged youth to enrol under Mission YUVA and directed banks not to demand guarantees or collateral from applicants. He also announced a two-day Mission YUVA Awareness Camp to boost participation.

Public delegations raised issues related to healthcare, road connectivity, education, tourism, employment, and SRO-43 matters. The DC instructed officials to address these concerns with transparency and fairness.

Later, the DC inspected renovation work at Gorha Gali and directed the SDM to develop the site as a tourist destination with a focus on infrastructure improvement and heritage preservation.
