Srinagar |: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of Police Post Langate at a checkpoint in Zand Batpora intercepted a vehicle with two suspects Showkat Ahmad Kalo and Manzoor Ahmad Nadroo on board and recovered 4.44 kg of poppy straw from their possession. Stating that both the suspects were arrested besides which vehicle used in the crime was also seized Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 179/2025 was registered at Police Station Handwara besides initiating further investigations which are currently underway. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to report any drug-related activities, reiterating therein its commitment to strictly act against offenders to combat drug-related issues in society.
