Rajouri |: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) on Monday organized “Yuwa Samwad” (Youth Dialogue) focused on the theme “Drug Free India: Role of Youth in Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” as part of the Viksit Bharat Youth Connect Programme.
The event, held on the university campus, underscored the vital role of youth in combating drug abuse and contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Mr. Abhishek Sharma (IAS), the Registrar of BGSBU, served as the Chief Guest and delivered a keynote address that explored the theme from multiple angles. He asserted that educational institutions should extend their roles beyond academic excellence to become catalysts for social change, particularly in the context of Viksit Bharat 2047. Mr. Sharma emphasized the youth’s potential as agents of change, highlighting their energy, passion, and innovative ideas as essential for achieving a drug-free India. He also stressed the importance of dialogue and awareness, advocating for shared responsibility in establishing a drug-free society and encouraging educational institutions to create environments conducive to open discussions and community support. The event included an interactive session where Mr. Sharma engaged with students and faculty, reinforcing the idea that meaningful interaction is crucial for understanding and empowering youth to shape the nation’s future. Additionally, the “Yuwa Samwad” competition showcased innovative proposals from two student teams aimed at promoting a drug-free India, evaluated by Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum and Dr. Tasleem Arif. Dr. Anjum, the Associate Dean of Students, highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach to substance abuse, focusing on education, awareness, and community collaboration. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Parvez Alam, the Chief Proctor, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Gulfam Ahmed, the Programme Coordinator. Mr. Vishal Pahari facilitated the proceedings, and the event was attended by various faculty members and students, reflecting a collaborative effort to address substance abuse issues within the university community.
