Walkathon organized by NHIDCL Regional Office Jammu to mark Inception Day

Jammu: To mark its 11th Inception Day, Regional Office Jammu of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) -a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH)- organised a spirited and well-attended walkathon Saturday at 0730 AM.
The event was held in collaboration with the School Education Department Jammu, showcasing a joint commitment towards promoting health, community engagement towards reduction of carbon footprint, plantation of trees in line with the PM Campaign of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, and environmental consciousness across the region.
The walkathon was flagged off from the Palm Island Mall, Canal Road, Jammu and followed a pre-planned route through prominent areas of the city, culminating at Prem Resort, Munshi Chak, Jammu. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various sections including Officers and staff of NHIDCL, school students, local residents, morning walkers welfare association, Muthiand representatives from the Authority’s Engineer and the EPC Contractor.
The collective energy and engagement of the participants created an inspiring atmosphere of unity and purpose, underlining the importance of public participation in initiatives aimed at holistic national development.
The primary objectives of the walkathon were to encourage physical fitness, promote awareness of sustainable infrastructure development, and instill a deeper sense of environmental responsibility among the public.
Addressing the gathering at the starting point, senior officials from NHIDCL stressed the importance of integrating community well-being with infrastructure growth. NHIDCL is working under MoRT&H is the executing agency for NH-244 and part of NH-144 in Jammu region. NHIDCL is also executing an important project of Zojila Tunnel and recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurated an important project of Z-Morh, . Amarnath Ji Tunnel in Ganderbal District of Kashmir.
