DC stresses on empowering youth through skill dev, Mission YUVA, Self-employment initiatives

Budgam : District administration Budgam in collaboration with District Employment & Counseling Centre (DE&CC) Budgam and Government Polytechnic College Nagam Chadoora, Saturday organized a one-day capacity building entrepreneurship mela at the college campus.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat presided over the event as chief guest.
The mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and officials from various departments and institutions across the district.
Besides SDM Chadoora, Principal, Government Polytechnic College Nagam Budgam, Deputy Director Employment Budgam, faculty members from ITIs, students of Polytechnic Colleges, and officials of DE&CC Budgam were present in the mela.
The mela aimed to equip the youth with essential entrepreneurial skills, real-world exposure, and practical insights, paving the way towards a skilled, confident, and self-reliant generation in line with the vision of Mission YUVA and Viksit Bharat.
Hands-on sessions, live demonstrations, app-based learning to provide practical exposure were held on the occasion. Also skill stalls were installed by students of ITI Budgam, ITI Chrar-e-Sharief, and Govt Polytechnic College Nagam, showcasing innovative projects and hand-made tools.
On the occasion, a live demonstration of the Mission YUVA Portal was held to familiarize participants with its features and benefits.
At the event, resource persons from multiple departments delivered sessions on Canva, MS Excel, PowerPoint tools, professional behaviour and workplace ethics, communication skills, career counseling in the IT Sector.
In his address, DC emphasised that the key to addressing the aspirations of Saturday’s youth lies in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry-relevant skills.
He reiterated that entrepreneurship is not just a career option but a mindset, and the district administration is committed to nurturing this spirit among the youth.
DC stressed on the importance of Mission YUVA as a transformative platform that connects youth with opportunities in self-employment, innovation, and skilling.
He urged the youth to dream big, build ideas fearlessly, and make the best use of government schemes, while also calling upon educational institutions to foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
He said the future belongs to those who are skilled, innovative, and resilient. He further said that our goal is to ensure that every youth in Budgam is empowered to build a future of dignity and economic independence.
DC also assured full support from the district administration for start-up culture, capacity-building workshops, and expanding career counselling initiatives under the broader framework of Digital India, Skill India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
