2-day annual Hawan conducted at the Temple after nearly 30 Years

Budgam |: BUDGAM, AUGUST 01: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Friday visited the ancient Vasuki Nag Temple in Hushroo village of Tehsil Chadoora, where he paid obeisance and inspected the ongoing developmental works being taken under the heritage conservation and religious infrastructure revival schemes.

The Vasuki Mandir, a revered site associated with the local Kashmiri Pandit community, holds deep religious and historical significance in the region. Known for its spiritual importance dating back centuries.

Friday’s visit by the DC coincided with the observance of a two-day annual Hawan, being conducted at the temple after nearly three decades, bringing back an atmosphere of devotion and community spirit.

The two-day annual Hawan, organised with the support of district administration, locals of area marks a spiritual homecoming and cultural continuity for many families. The large-scale ritual drew emotional responses from devotees and well-wishers alike.

DC inspected the developmental works and issued on-spot directions for early completion of remaining tasks.

He called for coordination among executing agencies, and emphasized that quality and timelines must be strictly adhered to.

He said that revival of religious activity at Vasuki Mandir after nearly 30 years reflects the resilience of our cultural identity and communal harmony.

He further said, district administration remains committed towards facilitating the return of spiritual practices in an inclusive manner.

He further added that the site is included in Budgam’s heritage and spiritual tourism mapping and assured that all necessary civic infrastructure such as road connectivity, lighting, water supply, and cleanliness will be strengthened around the temple premises.

DC lauded the formation of a local temple management committee comprising stakeholders from the community and local authorities to ensure long-term upkeep, cultural programming, and coordination with the administration.

DC said, temple complex is undergoing renovation and upgradation under the J&K Government’s heritage revival scheme, in coordination with the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums (Archies) and district administration.

He further added that developmental works include structural strengthening, pathway construction, sanitation improvement, landscaping, fencing, and installation of public amenities to enhance accessibility and preserve the sanctity of the site.

The Hawan ceremony was attended by community elders, devotees, and local residents in a peaceful and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The event symbolized unity, mutual respect, and revival of centuries-old traditions in the Kashmir Valley.

DC was accompanied by SDM Chadoora, officers from line departments and locals during his visit.
