Srinagar |: Tarun Chugh the BJP National General Secretary, along with other party leaders attended a party rally on Wednesday at Baramulla where Anwar Khan was honored for his new role as general secretary.
Addressing the rally Chugh slammed National Conference (NC) for failing to fulfill its electoral promises, such as job creation and government vacancies, labeling their manifesto as a “cruel joke.” He condemned NC leaders for their remarks on tourism, which he described as a “cultural invasion,” arguing that such statements reflect a desperate attempt to divert attention from their failures and echo Pakistan-sponsored propaganda. Chugh highlighted the importance of tourism for the region’s economy and criticized the NC for its historical manipulation of democratic processes, which he claimed contributed to violence and alienation in Kashmir. He pointed out the NC’s silence on the peaceful conduct of the Holy Muharram procession, suggesting that their political interests overshadow the cultural and religious sentiments of the people. He also noted the significant voter turnout in recent elections, asserting that the people of Kashmir have rejected separatist threats and embraced democracy. Chugh dismissed the term “cultural invasion” as baseless and emphasized that the people of Kashmir are moving beyond fear-based politics.
Chug praised resilience of the Kashmiri people, particularly in the aftermath of the Pahalgam tragedy, and expressed confidence in the BJP’s commitment to the region’s development under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Sat Sharma, BJP’s J&K President echoed these sentiments, celebrating the rally’s turnout as a sign of growing trust in the BJP and asserting the party’s dedication to unbiased development in Jammu & Kashmir. He expressed optimism about the BJP forming the next government in the region, highlighting the popularity of Modi’s initiatives among the people.
