3 Vehicles seized for illegal mining activities in Kulgam, 3 unlawfuls arrested: Police

Srinagar | : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized three vehicles involved in illegal mining activities in Kulgam and apprehended three individuals in this connection.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Khrewan  a police team led by the In-Charge Police Post intercepted a JCB and a dumper involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding there in that both the vehicles were seized, and their drivers were arrested. Stating that in a similar operation at a checkpoint in Nowpora, a tractor was also confiscated, and its driver was taken into custody for similar illicit activities Police in its statement further said that following these actions, the police registered cases under relevant legal sections at Qazigund Police Station and initiated investigations into the incidents. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to report any suspicious or unlawful mineral extraction and transportation activities, Calling upon people therein to ensure environmental preservation and strict enforcement of laws related to mineral extraction.
