Pr Accountant General chairs first ever Pension Adalat at Shopian

DDOs asked to streamline pension process, listen to grievances for resolution

Shopian |: The first ever Pension Adalat was held Saturday at Government Degree College, Shopian, by the office of Principal Accountant General, J&K, in collaboration with District Treasury Office Shopian.

The Adalat was held to listen to the grievances of pensioners, settle pension related cases and sensitize the DDOs about e-processing of pension cases through recently launched pension Suvidha Portal.

Principal Accountant General (A&E), J&K, Jay Prakash Narayan Singh, inaugurated the Adalat which was also attended by Deputy Accountant General, Pawan Kumar Rathi, District Treasury Officer, Muzafar Ahmad Rather and Senior Accounts  Officers and other officials of PAGs office.

Appreciable number of pensioners and DDOs attended the Adalat and appreciated the step of the department taken towards the direction of streamlining the pension process.

The DDOs were imparted impactful insights into the pension related rules and norms and new procedural interventions taken to ensure hassle-free pension settlements. Speakers dealt with Pension Suvidha Portal, pension verifications and other related issues.

District Treasury officer presented highlighted the importance of conducting the Pension Adalat.

A team of officers and officials, on the occasion, attended the pensioner’s grievances and scrutinized various pension issues and redressed many of them on the spot.

On the occasion, the Pensioner Front Shopian also presented a memorandum of demands to the PAG.

The Deputy Accountant General chaired a grievance session, listened keenly to the grievances of the pensioners for redressal and replied queries of pensioners. He also spoke on strengthening the bond between the pensioners and the office of Principal Accountant General office by holding outreach camps.

The Principal Accountant General, while speaking at the event, said the department intends to connect to the pensioners more effectively by organising such outreach progra He highlighted the role of efficient and collaborative mechanism between the pensioners, pension sanctioning authorities and office of PAG for the benefit of pensioners.

The PAG committed that similar Pension Adalats shall be organised in future.

“Welfare of pensioners is the focus of the department and we are proactively addressing the issues of pensioners and committed to serve them  with utmost compassion and integrity, said the PAG.
