Srinagar : The Health and Medical Education department has appointed Enquiry Officer Sakeena Itoo to investigate a recent incident at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar that occurred on July 23. The order designates Baseer ul Haq Chaudhary, Mission Director of the National Health Mission J&K, to conduct a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Enquiry Officer is tasked with assessing the immediate factors leading to the incident and the subsequent developments. A key focus of the investigation will be the reasons behind the closure of Operating Theatres (OTs), determining if this closure was avoidable, and identifying individuals responsible for any dereliction of duty or violations of established protocols. Additionally, the officer is expected to recommend measures to enhance internal grievance redressal mechanisms, improve administrative coordination, and bolster the overall functioning of the institution. The aim is to propose both remedial and preventive strategies to avoid future occurrences of similar incidents. The Enquiry Officer is required to submit a report to the government within fifteen days of the order’s issuance. Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, the Administrator of Associated Hospitals at GMC Srinagar, will serve as the Presenting Officer in this case.
