“Tariffs On 90% British Goods Set To Decrease To Make It Easier For British Companies To Sell Their Products In India-A Huge Market”

“PM’s Trip To UK Aims To Double Commerce Between India And UK, Seeks To Explore New Areas Of Partnership . This Can Be A New Chapter In India-UK Relations”

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his visit to the United Kingdom with the main goal of strengthening the bond between India and the UK. The visit marks a significant step in boosting the partnership between the two nations. Modi highlighted that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a broad agreement covering many areas of cooperation, has gained strong momentum over recent years. This reflects a clear increase in economic, political, and cultural ties, with both countries working more closely than ever before. He expressed hope that discussions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer would lead to new opportunities for cooperation and mutual growth. Modi also mentioned the importance of meeting King Charles III, emphasizing the historic connection between India and the British monarchy.
A major focus of Modi’s trip is the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, a deal that has been in the works for the past three years. This agreement aims to allow more goods to move easily between the two countries. It is expected to remove tariffs, which are taxes on imports, on 99 percent of Indian exports to the UK. This means Indian businesses will find it cheaper to sell products like textiles, pharmaceuticals, and machinery in the UK. On the other side, tariffs on 90 percent of British goods, such as cars and whisky, are also set to decrease. This will make it easier for British companies to sell their products in India, which has a huge market.
The trade deal aims to double the current trade volume, which is around 60 billion dollars. If successful, the total trade could reach around 120 billion dollars by 2030. This growth will help create jobs and boost income in both countries. The agreement is not only about money; it also opens the door for easier exports of British products, such as high-quality whisky and luxury cars. Indian consumers will get better access to these goods, which are popular in India. For example, British whisky brands like Glenfiddich and Johnnie Walker are widely enjoyed in India, and both stand to gain from this deal.
Aside from the trade agreement, Modi plans to hold wide-ranging discussions with the UK Prime Minister. These talks will cover many subjects, including economic cooperation, climate change, education, and technology. Both leaders want to find more ways to work together on global issues. This could include coordination on climate policies or joint projects to improve healthcare and technology. Modi is also looking to strengthen cultural and diplomatic ties. He has scheduled a meeting with King Charles III to honor the long history and friendship shared between India and the United Kingdom.
This visit comes at a time when both India and the UK are eager to deepen their international influence. The UK is interested in strengthening trade and strategic partnerships as it navigates post-Brexit changes. India, on the other hand, seeks to expand its global presence and attract more investment. Both nations see their partnership as an important way to support economic growth and global stability.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK is a key step in building stronger ties between the two countries. The focus on the new trade deal and high-level discussions shows that both countries want closer cooperation. With efforts to double commerce and explore new areas of partnership, this trip could mark a new chapter in India-UK relations. Both nations are eager to work together for mutual benefit, opening new doors for businesses, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.
