Srinagar| :  Department of Social Welfare, SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women- Mission Shakti Srinagar Tuesday organized an awareness programme on ‘Tips for online safety/safety sessions’ at Amar Singh College Srinagar under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.

The programme was organized to raise technology awareness among students as they use it more extensively and are thus more prone to various online risks such as cyberbullying, online harassment, identity theft, and exposure to inappropriate content.

It aimed to promote online safety among students, which involves educating them on how to stay safe and secure online and how to protect their personal information. By promoting online safety, it can help students develop responsible digital citizenship skills and reduce the risks of online harm.

The event witnessed the presence of the Resource Persons (Experts) from Cyber Police Srinagar and the experts from District Legal Services Authority Srinagar, students, faculty of the Amar Singh College Srinagar and the staff from SANKALP- Hub for Empowerment of Women Srinagar.

The experts interacted with the students and shared different tips for staying safe online, and legal perspective of Cybercrimes was also discussed. They emphasized the precautions which need to be taken to protect oneself and others from online threats and risks such as cyberbullying, identity theft, and online predators.

As students spend more time online, it becomes essential to teach them how to protect their personal information, use social media responsibly, and recognize and respond to online dangers.

To prepare students for the digital age, educational institutions can implement various strategies and practices that promote digital literacy and online safety to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the digital landscape safely and responsibly.
