Srinagar |: Police on Monday said that it has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1.5 Crores under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act here in Srinagar.
In a statement issued from Zonal police headquarters Srinagar police said that it has attached a two-storeyed residential property belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, located in Budoo Bagh Khanyar, Srinagar. Stating that the property is currently in the possession of the son of the said Gulzar Ahmad Bhat namely Suhail Ahmed Bhat identified as a drug peddler involved in a specific case under the NDPS Act, Police in its statement further said that Suhail has a documented history of drug-related offenses, primarily targeting local youth, which poses a significant threat to public health and safety. Police in its statement further said property during investigation was found to have been acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking. Stating that under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act the said property has been attached but cannot be sold or transferred without prior approval from the competent authority Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards drug-related crimes, aiming to protect the people particularly vulnerable youth, from the dangers of substance abuse. Police in its statement also appealed people to actively participate in combating drug issues by sharing any pertinent information.
