Says “Region’s Economy Has Doubled, It Shows A Robust Economic Revival”

“Indigenous Weapons Have Bolstered National Security During Op Sindoor”

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the significant transformation of Jammu and Kashmir over the past five years, marking a departure from its troubled history towards a future characterized by peace, security, and development.
In a recent interview with a national news channel LG Sinha highlighted that the normalization of daily life is evident, with disruptions such as stone pelting and hartals now a thing of the past. The region’s economy has doubled during this period, reflecting a robust economic revival. Sinha acknowledged the ongoing nature of development and expressed that the true measure of change will be assessed by the people and history. He also addressed the plight of terrorism victims, sharing his emotional experiences with affected families and outlining efforts for their rehabilitation, including reopening old massacre cases and returning seized properties. In response to concerns regarding the exclusion of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from security meetings, Sinha clarified that his actions are guided by the State Reorganization Act and emphasized a collaborative relationship with the Chief Minister. He identified the full integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India and the establishment of Indian sovereignty as key challenges during his tenure, which he believes have been successfully addressed under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Tourism has seen a resurgence following a decline after the Pahalgam terror attack, with over two lakh pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra this year. Sinha noted the full occupancy of hotels in popular tourist areas and justified the suspension of helicopter services to the shrine for national security reasons. Addressing external threats, Sinha spoke about India’s operational strength against Pakistan’s propaganda and drone usage, asserting that indigenous weapons have bolstered national security. Looking ahead, he reaffirmed his commitment to integrity and dedication, crediting the central leadership for their historic decisions impacting Jammu and Kashmir. He concluded by highlighting the vital role of women in the region’s progress, promoting the vision of women-led development.
