Srinagar | : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam Police district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in In Tangmarg one Younis Mohammad Bhat was intercepted and upon checking 6 grams of a Brown Sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested lodged at the local police station. Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam, police intercepted a truck with two individuals, Mohd Sahil and Majid Ahmad Malik, on board and upon checking 6.785 kg of a Poppy Straw-like substance was seized from their possession following which they were arrested and subsequently vehicle used for the crime was also seized Police in its statement further said that both the cases have been registered under relevant legal sections besides which investigations are underway. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to report any drug-related activities or criminal behavior to the nearest police station or by calling 112, reiterating therein its commitment to combat drug issues and trict action against offenders in accordance with the law.
