Srinagar | : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a junior official from the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The arrest followed a complaint from a citizen who reported that the official demanded illegal payment to permit further construction of a double-storey building in Ballain Domana, Jammu. Initially, the official requested a total bribe of Rs 20,000 but agreed to accept the first installment of Rs 10,000. A trap team, led by a Gazetted officer, was formed to apprehend the accused. The official was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. The ACB team arrested him on the spot and recovered the bribe money. Additionally, a search of the accused’s residence in Flore Haramkund Gajansoo, Tehsil Marh, District Jammu, is underway, conducted with the presence of independent witnesses and a Magistrate.
