Srinagar | : Police on Thursday organized an awareness program at Boys Higher Secondary School Langate to educate students about newly enacted criminal laws.
The event, attended by a significant number of students, teachers, and staff, focused on the key provisions and reforms introduced under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which have replaced colonial-era laws. The program was led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) from the PC Headquarters in Handwara, who highlighted the major changes brought about by the new laws, particularly in areas concerning public safety, public rights, police procedures, and trial reforms. Speakers on this occasion highlighted the importance of legal awareness in a progressive democracy, encouraging students to become informed citizens and advocates for legal literacy within their communities. The staff at BHSS Langate expressed appreciation for the initiative taken by Handwara Police, recognizing the value of such informative sessions. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively engaged and clarified their doubts.
