Jammu|July,17 : After a one-day suspension  Amarnath Yatra has resumed from the Jammu base camp as a fresh batch of 7,908 pilgrims chanting ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ left Friday morning for the holy cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas from the Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar base camp. No batch was allowed to proceed from Jammu and Pahalgam-Chandanwari base camp yesterday due to landslides and heavy rains along the Baltal track. However, officials said the pilgrims departed today from the base camp in a fleet of 261 vehicles.

Official in Jammu said that a fresh batch of 7,908 pilgrims left for the Shri Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir from the Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements. They further said that 2,879 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 5,029 for Baltal in a convoy of 261 vehicles, comprising both Light Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles. The 38-day annual pilgrimage started from both the routes with flagging off of the first batch from here by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on July 2. The yatra will end on August 9. So far, more than 2 lakh pilgrims have visited the shrine.
