Akhnoor (Jammu) : Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Police Nalin Prabhat has asserted that cooperation of the people stands at the centre of the fight against terrorism and as such cooperation of people play a key role in combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an official event at Akhnoor the DGP asserted that a strong relationship between the police and the community is vital for effective operations against terrorist activities. Recently, a significant achievement was noted in the Dudu-Basantgarh forest of Udhampur, where a prominent commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad was eliminated, thanks to information provided by local residents. DGP Prabhat acknowledged the ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist threats and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining internal security. He recognized the exemplary performance of the Akhnoor Police Station, which was awarded the title of Best Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir for 2024 by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The DGP personally presented the Certificate of Excellence to the police personnel, celebrating their hard work and dedication. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including senior officers from the Army, BSF, CRPF, and civil administration. Akhnoor Police Station was selected from a pool of 17,932 stations across India, based on rigorous performance criteria established by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This recognition is part of a national initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. DGP Prabhat commended the leadership of former and current police officials for their contributions to the station’s success and encouraged them to continue their legacy of excellence. He also praised the station’s effective community policing strategies and its success in addressing issues such as drug trafficking, bovine smuggling, and organized crime.
