SKUAST-K hosts Indian Army Vet Captain Mansi for career talk

Srinagar | : Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir held an interaction session with the Indian Army’s Captain Mansi for the outgoing veterinary graduates at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Shuhama.

According to a statement issued from public relations office SKUAST_K here Captain Mansi, a distinguished alumnus of SKUAST-K, is currently serving in the 54-Advanced Veterinary Field Hospital of the Indian Army’s Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) in Srinagar.

The interaction session was organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Career Counselling and Placement Centre at the Faculty Outreach Centre, Shuhama campus.

Aimed at inspiring, motivating and guiding the graduating veterinary students, the session focused on preparation strategies for the RVC examination and other national-level competitive exams. Owing to an overwhelming response and high student enthusiasm, the session had to be conducted in two separate sittings.

At the outset of the session, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof Riaz Ahmad Shah, welcomed Captain Mansi to her alma mater and felicitated her with a bouquet.

Captain Mansi shared her personal journey, offering practical insights into exam preparation, recommended study material and strategic planning. She emphasised the importance of hard work, determination and perseverance in achieving one’s goals. Her honest reflections and experiences deeply resonated with the students, making the session informative, motivational and inspiring.

Earlier, Prof MT Banday, Chairman of the Faculty’s Career Counselling and Placement Centre, spoke about the growing scope of veterinary sciences and the range of career opportunities available to graduates. He also outlined the Centre’s upcoming initiatives focused on enhancing students’ employability at both national and international levels.

In his address, Prof Riaz Ahmad Shah highlighted the diverse career paths open to veterinary graduates, including roles in animal health, research, animal germplasm conservation, industrial biotechnology and the global livestock industry. He commended the organisers for arranging such a meaningful event and expressed hope that it would ignite ambition and inspire students to pursue excellence. The event was moderated by Dr Shahnaz Bashir, Assistant Professor, Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine.
