Srinagar: Three separate road accidents along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals and injuries to eight others, including three Amarnath pilgrims.
Reports said that in the first incident near Dangerpora Padgampora in Awantipora, an Alto car collided with a truck, leading to the deaths of two Kulgam district residents. Rouf Gull, who died instantly, and Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital, were both passengers in the vehicle. Two others, Showkat Ahmad Lone and Firdousa, wife of Aijaz Ahmad Lone, sustained critical injuries and are receiving treatment. The second accident occurred in Banihal, where a car collided with a crane inside the Navyug Tunnel, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The deceased, Tariq Ahmad, an employee of the Health Department, was identified, and the injured are currently being treated at GMC Anantnag. The third incident involved a bus carrying Amarnath yatris that crashed inside Tunnel T-1 at Kela Morh in Ramban district, injuring three pilgrims who were promptly taken to District Hospital Ramban for medical care. Authorities have acknowledged all three accidents and are investigating the circumstances surrounding them.
