Srinagar | : Police in Anantnag on Monday conducted a mock drill along the Amarnath Yatra route to enhance the safety and security of pilgrims.
The exercise was aimed to evaluate the alertness, preparedness, and coordination among various security agencies involved in Yatra duties. The drill simulated multiple scenarios, including responses to potential threats, emergency evacuations, and crowd management. Supervised by senior officers from Anantnag Police, the mock drill adhered to standard operating procedures (SOPs), with particular attention given to areas prone to congestion and high foot traffic. This focus was intended to assess the effectiveness of response teams and quick reaction units. Importantly, the drill was executed without causing any disruption to the Yatris or the general public, and the cooperation of citizens and pilgrims was acknowledged. Such exercises are integral to the routine preparedness protocol, aimed at bolstering on-ground capabilities and ensuring the safety of all devotees participating in the Yatra.
