Srinagar | : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has achieved a significant milestone by being granted an Indian patent for its innovative invention, the “Wear Measurement Test Rig for Fabric Industry and System Thereof,” on July 9.
The accomplishment highlights the institute’s commitment to advancing research and technological innovation. The patented system is the result of collaborative efforts between the Mechanical and Civil Engineering departments, with key contributors including Prof. M. F. Wani, Prof. Rakesh Sehgal, Dr. Sheikh Shahid Saleem, and Dr. Vivek. The test rig is designed to improve precision and efficiency in measuring fabric wear, making it highly applicable in textile research laboratories and commercial manufacturing, particularly for quality control and product development. The inventors expressed their belief that this innovation reflects NIT Srinagar’s growing contributions to both national and international research communities. They emphasized the potential impact of the system on the fabric and textile testing industry, enhancing wear measurement analysis. Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia praised the achievement as a proud moment for the institute, noting that it exemplifies how academic innovation can address real-world industrial challenges.
