Locals Outraged: Drug Control Dept Promises Strict Action After Shocking Discovery

Ganderbal| : In a shocking incident, a huge quantity of government-supplied medicines meant for poor patients was found dumped on Wednesday along Gutlibagh road near Hope Disability Centre. The medicines, identified as Ferrous Sulphate and Folic Acid Syrup with an expiry date of February 2027, were found scattered in the open, raising serious questions over the handling and distribution of government health supplies.

Locals expressed anger, stating that while poor patients struggle for medicines in hospitals, essential drugs are being dumped like garbage. “This is sheer injustice to the needy,” said a local resident. Drug Control officials have taken cognizance of the incident, stating that a team will visit the spot and strict action will be initiated against those responsible for this careless disposal of government medicines. “This is a serious violation, and we will ensure accountability,” a Drug Control official said. The incident has sparked concerns of mismanagement and possible corruption within the supply chain of government medicines, demanding an immediate probe to ensure such essential health supplies reach the intended beneficiaries instead of ending up in roadside dumps.
